Fun all the way through

However, beyond those few minutes.. it fails at expanding the characters any more, at least properly. You/we learn about two more things about two couples that aren't exactly a 'couple', and that's it. Yet, I didn't mind it. Sure, the movie could have benefited from more expended characters, but the story was more in the 'now', and the peril those characters find themselves in. As if you're watching it all happening right now, right this moment, and right in front of you.
The story itself isn't great, and it's different than I expected, but I liked it. There's not much scary stuff in here, and I'd put it under mystery/thriller.
All in all, the movie itself isn't great, but I thought it was enjoyable. If you like movies in airplanes, and you wouldn't just watch it to pick every little thing apart instead of just relaxing, and enjoying the ride, then go for it. Otherwise, you probably won't like.

Friends with Better Lives (2014-2014) review

Anyway.. basing my opinion on the first episode, it's a fun show, that's worth a watch.

Witching & Bitching review

First of all, this movie 'reunites' 3 actors from Paco's Men (a very funny TV series), Hugo Silva, Mario Casas, and Pepรณn Nieto. Who has seen the series, will surely love that. Second, it's a horror-comedy by รlex de la Iglesia, which should, by now, be enough for you to want to see it. He's made some very good movies, and some crazy as well (The Last Circus).
The story is about two guys (out of few) who commit robbery, one of which brings his son with him. They manage to get a bag full of golden rings, and they hijack a taxi, because the second guy's woman took his car in front of them. Things get a lot worse from there (and I mean it in a good way), where the boy's mother is included, 2 police inspectors, a taxi driver & passenger, and of course, a bunch of meat-hungry wanna-raise-the-queen-of-whatever witches.
Tbh, it's not really a big spoiler, but basically a description of the movie. Anyhow, considering that two of the main actors are rather.. famous, and very good, then that there is Carolina Bang acting as 'rebelious' witch-daughter, and her sinister, wicked, yet atractive smile, then the fact that there is a lot of comedy, I'd say this movie is great, or at least as good as horror-comedy movies can get. In fact, a lot of movies try to be as good as this, and fail, where this one succeeds. All in all, I recommend it. If all of this is not enough to get you to watch it, check one of the trailers (the shorter one especially), and if you're into crazy, at times over-the-top movies, you'll surely like this.

A Touch of Cloth review

Haunter review

Shortly (small spoilers ahead), the movie starts as Lisa (the main actress), is woken up by her younger brother over Walkie-talkie, who has an imaginary friend. A little later because of her odd behaviour that morning, her parents have a talk with her, where she reveals that the day is repeating - over and over again, and how they (her parents) never believe her. And it's a day right before her 16th birthday.. while outside, it's a fog-like substance, like in the movie 'The Mist'.
That's all I can say without spoiling the movie too much.
Other than that, the director is Vincenzo Natali famous for the movie 'Cube'. Then there's the actor David Hewlett (Stargate: Atlantis, Cube) who's in it briefly, then there's Stephen McHattie who looks familiar to me.
Abigail Breslin (the girl from Zombieland) acts well too.
This movie is a Mistery that's wrongly categorized as 'horror', and I'd say it's a pretty good mistery at that. There's a few things that aren't that good, but eh.. most movies are like that. All in all, I did enjoy watching it. 7/10.

The Lone Ranger review

Anyhow... it was awesome! And I mean it. Johnny Depp was great in it, and as for the movie as a whole, I thought it was great. Sure, the story wasn't perfect, but there is a lot of comedy, and if you've liked Johnny in The Pirates of the Caribbean, you'll quite probably like him here as well.
Personally, most of the times, I watch the movies to be entertained, as I believe it should be, and although this movie had some smaller faults and maybe lack of stronger story, it made it all up with a lot of good comedy. I know it's based on the some show from.. well, a long while ago, but it shouldn't be compared to it - the same way most remakes shouldn't be compared to originals, it is what it is. Sure, maybe Tonto in the original was better for some, more serious, whatever, if you're expecting to see that, then don't bother watching - just watch the original, and stick with it. But if you want a good, fun movie, that will make you laugh and not make you feel like your time is wasted, then give this movie a shot.

All Hallows' Eve review

It's basically a movie in a movie, and it goes on for over 20 minutes (nearly from the beginning), and like that's not enough, after that, the woman in the movie watches another movie, and so goes the next 15-20 minutes. After a lot of drama + screaming, then goes the third... ehh, why the hell I'm writing anymore. It's a shitty, shitty, shitty movie, the only reason I gave it 1/10 is because of 1-2 good scenes, other than that... avoid at all costs.

The Last Days on Mars review

Could have been good if they didn't include horror in it, the cast was ok, but all in all, not worth watching beyond the first few minutes.

Disturbing Behavior review

Reeker review

Closest movie to this one that I've seen is Dead End, which is more of a comedy. Anyway, 6.5/10. from me, worth a watch - I've seen it a couple of times.

Updates have been made...
The ending for The Mist actually surprised me because it deviated from the story but I did like it.
I remember Sliders; I enjoyed watching it, too. It was a pretty fun show and, I agree, the cast was decent. I've always liked John Rhys-Davies, too.
That amused me about the guy who survived until the end in Evil Dead. I have to say that I didn't really see that turning out like it did.
Well, I'm watching the 4th Hellraiser film and then I'm off to bed. I'll check in tomorrow, man. Have a good one... :)
I'll look for those Dyer films you've mentioned and try them first. Always look forward to discovering a new actor that I might like. (directors too, for that matter)
The Earth 2 series is rather good but it only lasted one season. It was nothing epic but I liked it and Curry was a major reason for that. It also starred Clancy Brown (who I love) and a number of other good b-list stars.
I'm not that crazy about gory horror flicks but if it's fitting for the story, I don't mind. For The Evil Dead remake, I found it fitting...and because the movie flat-out rocked! Yet I'm not a fan of the Saw series like some are; I only watched the first one. It just depends, I guess...Still, with a year-long horror journal in the works, I'm sure to see my fair share.
I'll make sure to see The Loved Ones and let you know what I thought, too.
I'm a fan of both Perlman and Cage; they certainly bring something special to the characters they play and I've enjoyed most everything that I've seen either in. Cage catches a lot of flak from some circles but I don't find it warranted at all. The guy's great!
I'll have to check out some of Dyer's work. As for Curry, I've been a fan for some time now. If you haven't yet seen Congo, Legend, Rocky Horror Picture Show or the short-lived TV series Earth 2, you should check them out; Curry is fabulous in every one of them!
